So far, the biggest obstacle I've run into while running this travel blog is figuring out how to write a travel blog while not currently traveling. But that won't be an issue for much longer, because I've got some big events coming up over the next few months that I can't wait to share. So without delay, here is my 2015 itinerary:
New York Fashion Week in February
I am going with Celina of Trends and Tolstoy to Mercedes Benz Fashion Week to photograph the events and all her fabulous outfits. I grew up just across the river in New Jersey and being the rebellious and desperate to get out of the suburbs teenager that I was, New York City is very familiar to me. I can't wait to shoot around the city from a new perspective and to catch all the latest trends and designs during events. I'll be tweeting and uploading some mobile shots to Instagram, so look out for those!
Women's Travel Fest and California in March
I am also very very excited to be attending Women's Travel Fest, hosted by Go Girl Guides, in San Francisco. The three day event takes place over the weekend with a day of speakers and a day of workshops. I am most excited to learn about budget travel and breaking into the travel industry.
Also, I could not be anymore amped up, because Felicity Aston, the first and only woman to ski across Antarctica alone, will be speaking. I have an obsession with Antarctica and it is a huge goal of mine to make it down to the bottom of the globe and explore the continent. I have a vision of myself in puffy Extreme Cold Weather Gear, handling top of the line camera equipment, and chilling out with some adorable penguins. I'd love to see McMurdo Station, Mount Erebus, the ice shelves, and all the outlying islands.
I am so excited to listen to Ms. Aston's adventures, as well as the stories from the other women there. The conference is a huge networking event and I am so excited for the amazing travelers I know I will meet there.
I will be staying in San Francisco with a friend and when I've finished the conference, I will begin bussing my way down the coast of California and making a stop to do some hiking in Big Sur. I've been dying to see the Redwoods and work on my landscape portfolio. After that, I'll wind up in Los Angeles to visit some friends and hopefully see another side of city. I've been once before and I did the tourist thing from Hollywood Boulevard to Venice Beach, but I think I'm ready to get a more local experience of the city. I cannot wait to return from this trip freshly traveled, inspired, and ready to take on the world
ICELAND in May
On May 18th, I will attend my college's graduation ceremony in the morning and then rush to the airport to get on a red eye flight to Iceland with one of my best friends. This trip is still very much in the works, but tickets are booked so I am going! We'll potentially be spending two weeks there, driving around and taking in all the beauty Iceland has to offer us. This has been a big dream for a while and I'm so glad we're making it happen. Our plan is still in the rough draft stages as I am currently taking in as many Iceland blog posts/essays/photographs/videos/ tweets I can find to get ideas for my trip. There's so much to be done in terms of planning, buying camera gear, and saving up money, but I am already so incredibly excited.
I've been referring a lot to Elizabeth Gadd's Red Dress series for inspiration and to hype me up even more about the trip and I recommend you all check out her photos. (Seriously though, she is a goddess among photographers and I want to be her friend.)
I am so happy with this list and so excited for this upcoming year. And the best part about it? It only covers the first half of 2015. There's so much more to see and people to meet and lovely shots to take. And I'm very very happy to share it with all of you.
