Leave the Nice Girl at Home

As some of you might have noticed from my spike in Instagram posts and tweets about sunshine and warm weather, I just got back from my week in California. I headed out there to attend Women's Travel Fest, a 3 Day Event including inspirational and informative panels on topics like saving money and staying safe as a solo female traveler.

The women speakers had invaluable information to share and a lot of their advice hasn't been able to get out of my head. The biggest quote for me from the whole travel fest came from the panel on safety:

"Leave the nice girl at home."

When you're traveling, of course you want to be polite, but that doesn't mean being so polite that you let yourself fall into a dangerous situation. Trust your instincts. That guy may be harmless, but if he's creeping you out then get yourself out. Like everything else, the rules of travel are different for women and just because you're on vacation doesn't mean you can be off your guard.

But leaving the nice girl at home doesn't mean being an asshole, it just means that you don't have to please and comply with everyone. The joy of adventure is yours, so don't let anyone else take that away from you.

Well now that I've got that off my chest, it's time for some pretty photos. To the next post!
